Miners and oil lift TSX

Monday extended Friday’s relief gains as all sectors of the TSX lifted the Canadian index by 0.94% or 231 points. Materials, energy and real estate performed the best as Suncor rose 2.15%, Whitecap 2.9%, Veren 2.85%, B2gold 8.45% and K92 Mining 6.8%. Gold itself returned to US$3,000 after climbing US$17, while WTI edged 0.33% higher to US$67.50.
To a lesser extent, American stocks rallied: the S&P up 0.64%, the Nasdaq 0.31% and the Dow 0.85%. Key names included Intel jumping 6.82%, Enphase Energy 9.75%, AES 6.01% and Nvidia -1.76% a day before the CEO delivers a keynote address. The U.S. slightly declined to 4.29% while Bitcoin added 1.1% to US$84,130. The tariff war was relatively quiet today with no major news coming from Washington, Ottawa, Mexico, China or the EU by the closing bell.
