Markets see-saw on inflation data

Tuesday saw markets swing throughout the session driven by the latest U.S. inflation data. Inflation came in slightly higher than expected but still much lower than the mid-2022 peak. The S&P closed 0.15%, the Nasdaq 0.72% and the Dow -0.29%.
Tech and travel fared well with Tesla 7.64%, Nvidia 5.73%, Expedia 3.23% and Carnival 2.1% though PayPal withdrew by 2.8%. The U.S. 10-year yield held around 3.749% while Bitcoin rose nearly 2% above $22,100.
The TSX gained only 0.1% but all sectors except three gained. Tech and energy led as discretionary sank. Big movers were CAE soaring 5.13%, Crescent Point Energy 1.61%, Suncor 1.41%, Enbridge -2.71% and Interfor -6.48%.
