TSX and Dow hit highs
Monday saw a split market as the TSX and Dow made record close, but the Nasdaq and S&P sank. The Canadian index added 0.27% to 23,348 as energy led and health care lagged.
Major movers on Bay Street: CNQ 2.48%, Suncor 1.96%, Spin Master 3.34%, MDA 2.79% and Celestica -4.18%. WTI oil rallied US$2 to US$77, while gold added US$6 to a lofty US$2,518.
The Dow advanced 0.16% to 41,240 but the S&P closed -0.32% and the Nasdaq -0.85%. Major names on Wall Street: Dayforce 3.96%, Warner Bros. Discovery 2.24%, Super Micro Computer -8.27% and Nvidia -2.25% as the most-traded name again. All eyes are on the tech giant when it reports after the Tuesday close. Bitcoin declined 1.4% to US$63,250. The U.S. 10-year yield edged up to 3.818%.
