Mortgage REIT, focused on mortgage-backed securities. They have been hit by some of the things in their portfolio including defaults. This is not his preferred vehicle in this space. The yield is probably good. It could drop from 20% to 16%.
Primarily commercial mortgage backed securities. Got hit hard because of volatility and questions about funding sources and the sovereign banks in Europe meeting leverage for this company has gone up and the risk premiums being charged have also gone up. Would prefer Annaly Capital (NLY-N) instead.
Owns mortgage-backed securities. A little bit of commercial and a little bit of non-agency and mainly agency. You would be better off in American Capital Agency (AGNC-Q) when it does a capital equity raise (probably in a month or so) or even American Capital Mortgage (MTGE-Q) if they do a capital raise.
