Tech fades in mixed trading
Wall Street reopened Thursday, but tech snapped its winning streak as the Nasdaq shed 0.68%, led by behemoth Nvidia which sank 2.37%. Other major movers were Apple at -2.31%, AMD up 5.17% and Gilead which jumped 8.3%. Elsewhere, the S&P gave back 0.2% after making recent record highs, though the Dow advanced 0.68%. The U.S. 10-year yield hovered around 4.257% as Bitcoin added 0.22% to US$65,000.
The TSX reversed recent weakness by climbing 0.26%. All but four sectors rallied, led by materials and industrials, while utilities lagged the most. Major movers on Bay Street included CNQ up 1.38%, Silvercrest Metals 6.1%, Bausch Health 5.86% and Celestica -6.8%. Gold added US$32 to US$2,360 and WTI crude rose 0.75% to US$82 a barrel.
