Stocks edge up, oil holds
As the U.S., Israel and Iran discuss peace talks, markets continued to edge up. The S&P closed the day up 0.8%, the Nasdaq 1.59%, the Dow -0.15% and the TSX 0.16%. WTI oil held around US$91.40. Indices are near all-time highs.
Key movers on Wall Street: Robinhood rallied another 10.41%, DoorDash 10.02%, Tesla 7.62%, Carrier -9.45% and Adobe 3.79% as software stocks continue to recover. On Bay Street: Shopify 8.12%, Linamar -12.64%, Energy Fuels 6.83%, Descartes 5.77% and BRP -35.37% after downsizing guidance caused by Trump’s tariffs. Sectors were mixed with tech and healthcare leading and discretionary and materials lagging.
Silver declined 0.5% to US$78.85 and gold rose US$50 to US$4,790. The U.S. 10-year yield inched up to 4.287%.
