Stocks and Bitcoin sink to start month
Stocks gave back some of last week’s strong gains to begin the week. The S&P closed -0.53%, the Nasdaq -0.38%, the Dow -0.9% or 427 points, and the TSX -0.9% or 281 points. Sinking further was Bitcoin, sliding 5.4% to US$86,230. However, silver continued to make new highs, touching US$58.57 an ounce while gold held around US$4,239. WTI advanced 1.55% to US$59.45.
The big movers on Wall Street included Synopsys which jumped 4.85%, Deckers 4.53%, Nvidia 1.6%, Moderna which sank 7.01% and Intel which slid 1.36%. In Toronto, Bausch Health soared 11.26%, Nutrien added 3.63%, though Celestica tumbled 7.27%, Shopify fell 6.32% and Bombardier faded 4.35%. The U.S. 10-year held around 4.09%.
