Oil stocks lead rally
Markets were hot on the first day of summer, Tuesday. Wall Street returned from a long weekend to rally. The S&P rose 2.45%, the Nasdaq 2.51% and the Dow 2.15%. Energy stocks led the climb though WTI advanced by only $1 to over $110. Tech enjoyed a bounce too.
Gainers included Tesla by 10%, Diamondback Energy at 8.14%, Pioneer Natural Resources 7.13% and Amazon adding 2.45%. Losers included Bath & Body Works at -9.63% and Meta -4.09%. The U.S. 10-year yield was 3.3%.
The TSX extended Monday’s gains by 0.38% also led by oil. Vermilion soared 6.34%, Meg Energy 5.65%, Precision Drilling 6% and Suncor 2.91%. Losers included Bausch Health at -5% and Bombardier at -8.14%.
