Markets extend losses
Bay and Wall streets continued to sell off on Thursday to extend losses of the previous session. This time, though, the Dow ended its record-breaking winning streak and closed -1.29% while the S&P finished -0.78% and the Nasdaq -0.7%. The U.S. 10-year yield reversed its downside by climbing nearly to 4.2%.
Major movers: homebuilder DR Horton soared 10.1%, Nvidia regained 2.63%, and Intel 1.19%, but Eli Lilly ended the day -6.26% and Domino’s Pizza -13.57%. Bitcoin retreated 0.65% to US$63,600.
Similarly, the TSX closed Thursday at -0.54% as healthcare and discretionary ranked among the laggards. Also losing ground were Hudbay Minerals at -7.54%, Lundin -6.13% and Interfor -5.97%. Winners included Algoma Steel up 5.29% and StorageVault at 4.73%. Gold slipped US$13 to US$2,445 as WTI gave back 0.5% to US$82.40.
