His general view on single-stock ETFs is that they're trading/income vehicles. Not diversified at all, whereas one of the points of an ETF is to provide some diversification beyond single stocks. You add single-company risk, fees, leverage, derivatives, and potentially capping upside.
You have to understand what you're buying. Might have eye-popping returns, but don't chase those. Have to watch closely. Not how he looks at portfolios.
