Tech leads U.S. market higher

As the TSX closed for holidays, tech led the U.S. market higher on Monday after a week of hit-or-miss earnings. The Nasdaq jumped 2.13% on the strength of Microsoft rallying 4.93%, Alphabet 4.88%, Meta 6.02% and Nvidia 2.93% which was the most-active name again. Elsewhere, First Solar leapt 10.28%, Lumentum 9.24%, but Marriott sank 6.97%. The S&P rose 1.48% and the Dow 1.32%. The U.S. 10-year yield edged down to 4.68% while WTI crude slipped 5.3% to US$80.15 as hostilities eased between the U.S. and Iran. Meanwhile, gold added US$8 to US$4,054 and silver increased 1.1% to US$58.05.
