Stocks rebound, yields hold
The trading week began on a positive note as stocks rallied across the board in Toronto and New York. Despite typically quiet late-summer volumes, the TSX advanced nearly 1% to return past 20,000. All sectors but staples climbed, led by materials, financials, real estate and energy.
Notable movers including CNQ up 2.48%, Iamgold 5.52%, Wesdome Gold Mines 5.41%, Algoma Steel 5.03% and TD 2.07%. WTI crude inched by 0.4% past $80 a barrel.
In New York, the S&P closed 0.63% higher, the Nasdaq 0.84%, and the Dow 0.62%. Notable names included Boston Scientific surging nearly 6%, 3M rebounding 5.22% after settling a lawsuit, Western Digital 4.86% and Bath & Body Works up 2.87%. The U.S. 10-year yield held around 4.208% while Bitcoin slipped by 0.34% to $26,000.
