Stocks, metals and Bitcoin slide
There was red across trading screens on Thursday as concerns over software stocks, AI overspending and a new, weak U.S. jobs report pressured markets. The S&P closed -1.23%, the Nasdaq -1.59%, the Dow -1.2% and the TSX -1.84% or down nearly 600 points. Gold sank 3.2% to US$4,805, silver crashed 17.25% to US$72.85 and Bitcoin cratered by 12.5% or over US$9,000 to US $63,525.
Major movers: Amazon -4.42%, Palantir -6.83%, Microsoft -4.95%, Estee Lauder -19.19%, Coinbase -13.34%, Celestica 6.48%, Bitfarms -16.19%, Torex Gold -12.29%, Endeavour Silver -11.94% and Discovery Silver -11.61%. WTI slipped nearly 3% to US$63.25. THE U.S. 10-year yield inched down to 4.186%.
