Silver soars post-Xmas

Silver continued its record run on Friday by topping US$79. Otherwise, it was a predictably quiet day on the post-Christmas markets with the three major indices and the TSX losing only a handful of points on very light trading. In Toronto, sectors were mixed with telcos up and healthcare and materials down. BCE climbed 1% while Brookfield Business Partners gained 2.05%, Celestica 1.71% and Iamgold shedding 2.47%. Gold added US$53 to US$4,533 while WTI sank 2.75% to US$56.75.

In New York, Moderna slid 4.73%, Tesla slipped 2.1% but Nvidia rose 1.62%. The U.S. 10-year yield held at 4.13% while Bitcoin remained around US$87,645.
