It was a quiet day on Bay and Wall streets with neither market making dramatic moves at the height of summer. The TSX shed 35 points as WTI sank 1.65% to US$75.85 a barrel, and gold slipped US$45 to US$2,382.

Major movers included goldminers Osisko up 3.59% and Eldorado 3.33% as well as Celestica -4.99%, Kelt Exploration -3.05% and Restaurant Brands 2.3%.

Similarly, gains and losses were muted in New York: the S&P was up four points, the Nasdaq 12 and the Dow closed-0.12%. Big movers: ON Semiconductor soared 11.54%, ResMed 5.84%, Tesla 5.6%, Ford -1.61% and Nvidia -1.3% as the most active name again. The U.S. 10-year yield edged down to 4.171% as Bitcoin fell 1.1% to US$67,260.
