Mideast truce triggers rally

A fragile truce between Israel and Iran sparked a sharp rally on Tuesday. The TSX made new highs after climbing 0.51% to 26,744 while the three American indices approached their own highs. In Toronto, nine sectors rose, led by tech and staples while energy lagged the most.
Big gainers were Lightspeed up 7.02%, Celestica 5.38%, Shopify 4%, Cameco 3.74% while Baytex sank 3.49%. Gold gave back US$45 to US$3,323 while Bitcoin advanced 1.7% to US$105,550. Naturally, the truce pressured oil, with WTI plunging 5.2% to below US$65.
In New York, the S&P advanced 1.15%, the Nasdaq 1.45% and the Dow 1.19%. Coinbase soared 12.1%, Nvidia 2.59%, Intel 6.42% and Tesla slid 2.35%. The U.S. 10-year yield hovered just below 4.3%.
