Choppy stocks, oil down
Thursday markets were well into the green for much of the day before falling towards the end. They finished mix with the TSX shedding 0.37% as energy sank, though tech thrived.
Major movers were Cenovus at -5.17%, ECN Capital -16.67%, Capstone Copper -7.64%, though Hut 8 Mining surged 8.26% and Torex Gold added 5.69%. WTO slid 2.25% to $69 a barrel as WCS shed 1.4% to $54.50.
Wall Street was more mixed though the major indices managed to finish positive: the S&P 0.3%, the Nasdaq 1.29%, and the Dow 0.23%. Bank of American closed -2.42% as the U.S. banking crisis continues to unwind, Comerica -8.58%, but tech rallied convincingly with Netflix popping 9.01%. Block plunged 14.82% after a damning short-seller report. The U.S. 10-year yield held around 3.39% while Bitcoin rallied another 3% past $28,000.
