Mideast fighting worries markets

As Israel and Iran traded fire, Trump threatened to deploy American force which worried markets on Tuesday. The S&P closed -0.84%, the Nasdaq -0.91% and the Dow -0.7%.
Key names included Tesla at -3.88%, Palantir -2.27% and AES -8.12%. The U.S. Senate is threatening to cease subsidies to the solar energy sector, and those stocks took a beating, including First Solar -17.89% and Enphase -23.97%. The U.S. 10-year yield edged down to 4.387% while Bitcoin sank 3.7% to fall below US$105,000.
The TSX regained some of its losses towards the close and finished the session -0.14%. Energy was s rare winner while healthcare and industrials lagged the most. Major movers: Baytex 5.49%, CNQ 2.63%, Whitecap 3.35%, Great-West Life -3.19% and TFI International -3.12%. Gold held around US$3,384, but unsurprisingly WTI jumped over 4% to US$74.75.
