Tuesday ends down after tech sell-off
American markets fell further on Tuesday as the selling continued to impact technology stocks. The S&P closed -0.79% to 3,942 the Nasdaq -2,35% to 11,264. The TSX rose 0.44% to 20,286 as financial and energy stocks rallied.
Triggering the avalanche of selling were tech giants Snap Inc, down 43%, and Pinterest, down 24% compared to yesterday. Other significant movers included Abercrombie & Fitch at -29% and Meta Platforms Inc at -7%.
Tourmaline Oil Corp and Nuvista Energy Ltd helped the TSX to close slightly higher than yesterday. They rose 4.17% and 4.44% respectively. Shopify was among the biggest losers of the day at -11%.
