U.S. debt fears sink stocks

Wall Street sold off as investors worried about ever-rising U.S. debt levels. Treasury yields climbed, with the 10-year reaching 4.593%. The S&P closed -1.61%, the Nasdaq -1.41% and the Dow -1.91% or over 800 points.
Key names included Tesla at -2.68%, Fair Isaac -15.74%, Nvidia -1.92% and Moderna -7.82%. Alphabet was a rare gainer, with GOOG up 2.87% after the company introduced AI in its searches. Also shining was Bitcoin which jumped 1.15% to highs of US$108,180.
Losses on Bay Street were lower after the TSX slipped 0.83%. Healthcare, real estate and tech were the worst performers and materials the only gainer. Major movers: Manulife -3.59%, Colliers -5.39%, Premium Brands Holdings -5.3%, CAE -4.99% and Orlan Mining rallying 6.77%. Gold itself advanced US$27 to US$3,317 while WTI declined 1.11% to US$61.35.
