TSX hits high, Wall Street fades
The TSX extended gains to fresh highs on Thursday, rallying 0.57% or over 200 points to 33,579. Energy and materials led the gains while discretionary was among four lagging sectors. Silver regained 1.6% to US$78.30, gold increased 0.46% to US$5,000 while WTI jumped 2.3% to US$66.75. Key names on Bay Street: Torex Gold 10.57%, First Majestic Silver 9.62%, Baytex 5.28%, Cenovus 4.04% and B2Gold -4.63% as the most active name.
On Wall Street, the S&P closed -0.28%, the Nasdaq -0.31% and the Dow -0.54%. Major movers: Super Micro Computer 8.25%, Booking Holdings -6.15%, United Airlines -5.88%, Carvana -7.98% and Pool Corp. -14.48%. Bitcoin rose US$710 to US$67,015. The U.S. 10-year yield held at 4.075%.
