TSX, gold and silver hit highs

The TSX added 46 points to make yet another record close. Led by healthcare and utilities, the Canadian index reached 32,046 by the closing bell while discretionary lagged the most. Sectors were mixed. Minerals continued to rise to new heights as well after silver jumped 3.45% to US$71.35 and gold rose over US$50 to US$4,500. Major movers: Bausch Health 4.58%, NFI Group 4.2%, TC Energy 1.3%, Birchcliff Energy 4.13% and Ivanhoe Mines 3.11%. WTI climbed 0.8% to US$58.50.

In New York, the S&P advanced 31 points to a record close of 6,909. The Nasdaq rallied 0.57% and the Dow 0.16%. Novo Nordisk received approval to sell its new weight-loss pill and saw its shares leap 7.3%. Other key names: Nvidia 3.01%, Broadcom 2.3%, Freeport-McMoRan 2.49% and Moderna -7.48%. Bitcoin sank nearly US$600 to US$87,585. The U.S. 10-year yield stood at 4.165%
