Tesla and Celestica beat in mixed trading
Markets were mixed Thursday as earnings beats and misses dominated trading.
In Canada, Celestica beat and shares jumped 18.27% while Mullen Group also beat and shares rallied 9.3%. Meanwhile, Royal Bank ended the session -1.21%, Teck Resources -5.44% after cutting its full-year outlook, and Boyd Group -3.26%. The TSX slipped 16 points, basically flat. WTI gave back 30 cents to US$70.50 while gold added US$20 to a lofty US$2,736.
On Wall Street, the S&P advanced 0.21%, the Nasdaq 0.76% and the Dow -0.33%. Tesla made headlines by surprisingly with a beat. Shares soared 21.93%. Similarly, Molina Healthcare beat and jumped 17.67%, but Newmont missed and tumbled 14.72% as Teradyne sank 11.02%. The U.S. 10-year yield held around 4.21% but Bitcoin surged 2.4% to US$68,125.
