Oil climbs, stocks sink
New York and Toronto closed lower Monday as ongoing fighting between US and Iran pushed the price of oil ever higher. WTI rose 0.65% to US$83 while the S&P closed at -0.19%, the Nasdaq -0.05%, the Dow -0.59% and the TSX -0.81%. Precious metals were mixed: silver was up 0.8% to US $56.25, while gold slipped 0.25% to US$4,000.
Key names on Wall Street: Intel 2.13%, Apple -2.14%, Carvana -4.75%, Honeywell -4.33% and Oracle -3.98%. In Toronto: Enbridge -1.33%, Cenovus 1.51%, Royal Bank -2.11%, TD -2.3% and Aecon -6.56%. The U.S. 10-year yield climbed to 4.596%, and Bitcoin gained US$700 to US$65,180. All eyes will be on tech earnings in the coming days.
