Choppy stocks and bond yields
With the TSX closed on Victoria Day, U.S. markets see-sawed on Monday along with bond yields as the street digested recent high inflation numbers. Though the Dow gained 0.32%, the S&P sank 0.67% and the Nasdaq slid 0.51%. The U.S. 10-year yield topped 4.62% though returned to 4.587% by the close. Micron weighed the indices down with a 5.95% loss. Other key names were ServiceNow, popping 8.78% after an upgrade, and Dominion Energy surging 9.44%. However, Regeneron closed the session -9.82%, Vertiv -8.41% and Tesla -2.9%. It was not a good day for Elon Musk, who also lost his lawsuit against OpenAI and Sam Altman. In commodities, WTI increased 0.85% to US$106.30 while gold added US$24 to US$4,565 and silver rose over 2% to US$77.40. Bitcoin advanced 1.5% to US$77,010.
