Yields hit 19-year high
The U.S. 10-year yield topped 5.22%, the highest level since July 2007. A key driver remains the price of crude oil. WTI jumped 3.4% to US$95.30 as Trump threaten to elevate strikes on Iran.
After selling off for most of Thursday, the S&P, Nasdaq and TSX closed off session weakness and shed only a handful of points. The Dow sank 0.31%. Gold declined US$18 to US$4,279 while silver slid 1.4% to US$63.40.
Key names on Bay Street: Air Canada 4.85%, BlackBerry 3.63%, Celestica 3.36%, Gildan -11.74% and Kinross Gold -11.33%. On Wall Street: Intel 3.91%, Gen Digital -12.05%, MGM -10.99%, First Solar -10.32% and Meta 4.5% to a 52-week high.
