TSX and Dow end week at record highs
Tech led the TSX and Dow to new closing highs on Friday to cap a winning week. The TSX climbed 0.16% to 34,465 and gained 0.59% for the week. Tech and telcos led seven sectors higher while materials lagged the most. Silver sank 1.55% to US$75.35 while gold slipped 0.8% to US$4,505. WTI declined 0.12% to US$96.23. Key names on Bay Street: BlackBerry 18.52%, NFI 6.07%, MDA Space 5.1%, CAE -13.63% and BMO 1.09% to notch a record high.
As new Fed Chair, Kevin Warsh, was sworn in, the S&P advanced 0.37%, the Nasdaq 0.19% and the Dow 0.58%. For the week, the S&P gained 0.88%, the Nasdaq 0.45% and the Dow 2.13%. The U.S. 10-year yield slipped to 4.55*% after touching 52-week highs earlier this week on inflationary data. Dell soared 16.77%, HP 15.25%, Qualcomm 11.6%, Coinbase -4.3% and Apple up 1.26% to make a record high of its own. Meanwhile, Bitcoin sank 2.25% to US$75,870.
