TSX hits high as semis rout continues

The rotation out of semis and memory stocks continued Tuesday, pushing the Nasdaq down 0.22%, but lifting the TSX by 0.52% to 35,751, another record close. The most-active name on Wall Street, Intel, sank 5.86%, Micron tumbled 8.85% and Sandisk cratered 14.25%. Tech was actually the strongest sector on the TSX as money flowed into software names Celestica which jumped 9.49%, Descartes Systems 6.16% and Constellation Software 6.45% on high volumes. 

Flows were also strong into Telus, the most-active name, which rallied 2.52%. Meanwhile, Hammond Power System slid 10.56%. Telcos and staples were also resilient on Bay Street while materials lagged as silver declined 2.22% to US$57.65 and gold fell US$51 to US$4,024. As the war calmed in Iran, WTI crude fell another 4.15% to US$79.20.

In New York, Comcast rallied 6.1%, and Corning tanked 12.05%. Bitcoin slipped 1.5% to US$63,935. The U.S. 10-year yield edged down to 4.602%.
