TSX fades to end week
With the NYSE closed for an American holiday, the TSX started Friday strong, but faded into the close. The TSX declined 0.32% for the session and nearly that much for the week in a relatively quiet session. Sectors were mixed after energy led and materials lagged the most. Gold surrendered US$54 to US$4,155 and silver slid 1.33% to US$64.70. WTI climbed nearly a dollar to US$77.55 as Trump’s pending deal with Iran attracts criticism. Most active on Bay Street were Montage Gold up 3.03%, CNQ +1.23%, and Vital Infrastructure Trust -1.51% as Alamos Gold tumbled 18.44% and Wheaton Precious Metals sank 4.78%.
