TSX edges up to another record high
The TSX posted a second-straight record close, edging up 16 points to 31,196, despite a sell-off at the close. With the U.S. closed for American Thanksgiving, volumes on Bay Street were predictably light, but nearly every sector enjoyed gains, led by tech, energy and real estate. Utilities saw only a modest decline. Perhaps an agreement to build an oil pipeline, signed by Prime Minister Carney and Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, helped lift markets. There were few outsized moves on the TSX, though notable names included Goeasy, up 2.93%, MDA Space 2.63%, Superior Plus 2.08%, Bombardier 1.97% and First Quantum Minerals 1.91%. WTI crude climbed 45 cents to US$59.10 while gold declined $4 to US$4,157. Bitcoin rose US$1,150 to US$91,340.
