TSX edges higher, Wall Street fades

The TSX added 14 points to make a new closing high, though sectors were mixed. Materials outperformed while energy lagged the most.
Key movers: CNQ -1.16%, Aya Gold and Silver 4.69%, NFI 3.03% and Spin Master -3.41%. Canadian bank earnings continued with National Bank beating to send its shares 3.81% higher. Meanwhile, gold gave back US$5 to US$3,295 while WTI advanced 1.2% to US$61.60.
In contrast, the major American indices sank over half a percent. The U.S. 10-year yield edged up to 4.471% while Bitcoin sank 2.35% but remained over US$107,000. Major movers were Fair Isaac which rebounded 7.74%, Warner Bros. Discovery up 4.92%, GE Vernova 2.86%, Synopsys -9.64% and Tesla -1.65%. However, all eyes were on Nvidia‘s latest quarter. The company reported after the closing bell, and shares immediately popped around 3%.
