TSX climbs as Wall St. gets inflation jitters

The TSX advanced 34 points or 0.12% on Monday, as healthcare led seven sectors higher. Energy and real estate were among the laggards.
Bausch Health was the biggest gainer, soaring 16.14% as Constellation Software rallied 4.39% and Goeasy 2.98%. Meanwhile, Capstone Copper sank 5.46% and Barrick Mining slid 2.36% on a US$1 billion write down on its Mali mine. Gold itself declined 1.35% to US$3,350, though WTI inched up by 0.3% to US$64.10.
In contrast, Wall Street was jittery, fearing CPI data that will be released on Tuesday. A high reading would likely mean the U.S. Fed would not reduce interest rates. The S&P closed -0.25%, the Nasdaq -0.3% and the Dow -0.45%. Making headlines was Paramount Skydance -3.71% buying the rights to UFC from TKO Group 10.23%. Elsewhere, Intuit fell 5.73%, Albemarle rallied 7% and Intel rose 3.51%. The U.S. 10-year yield clocked in at 4.279% while Bitcoin advanced US$450 to US$118,800.
