Tech rallies, but markets mixed

Tech gained on Friday, but markets remained cautious in light of Trump’s ongoing tariffs. The TSX closed Friday -0.23%, though gained 2.15% for the week. Sectors were mixed with utilities and real estate slightly up, but industrials and materials down.
Major movers: TFI International -5.52%, WSP Global -4.26%, Cargojet -3.63%, and Boralex up 3.22%. Gold remained at all-time highs at US$3,305 while WTI added 0.7% to US$63.25.
For the week, the S&P rose 4.6%, the Dow 2.5% and the Nasdaq 6.7%. For the session, the Dow was flat, the S&P up 0.74% and the Nasdaq 1.26%. Most influential: Nvidia 4.3%, Intel -6.7%, Tesla 9.8% and Palantir 4.64%. The U.S. 10-year yield held around 4.255% while Bitcoin continued to climb, up 2% to US$95,345.
