Markets rebound, crypto climbs

On Wednesday, markets mostly recovered from Tuesday’s sharp sell-off. The S&P closed the session up 0.87% just shy of 5,000, the Nasdaq added 1.23%, and the Dow 0.32%. The U.S. 10-year yield held around 4.265% while Bitcoin surged nearly 4% to over US$51,600.

Key movers included Uber which delivered a beat and soared 14.38%. Tesla rose 2.49%, AMD 4.02%, Nvidia 2.32% and MGM -5.98% despite a beat.

On Bay Street, the TSX rebounded 1.38% as every sector except energy rallied. Consumer staples and industrials were particularly strong. Notable names were Goeasy up 8%, Enbridge -2.65%, Royal Bank 1.95%, Shopify 4.22% and Lithium Americas 7.8%. WTI slipped 1.6% to fall to $76.65 a barrel.
