TSX, S&P and Dow rip to new highs
On Tuesday, the TSX, S&P and Dow made record highs on the strength of tech. The S&P closed up 1.89%, the Dow 1.79%, the Nasdaq 2.63% and the TSX 1.61% to 35,793. In New York, Palantir soared 29.45% , Nvidia 2.56%, Intel 10.84%, Amazon -2.32% and NRG Energy -15.48% after WTI sank 5.8% to US$75.65.
In Toronto, tech and materials led five other sectors higher while energy and health care lagged the most. Key names: Aya Gold & Silver up 16.85%, Celestica 12.91%, Vermilion Energy -7.01%, and Barrick Gold 4.45%. Silver rose 2.35% to US$59.45 and gold added US$24 to US$4,078. Meanwhile, Bitcoin increased US$370 to US$64,110. The U.S. 10-year yield declined to 4.611%.
