Markets flat after U.S. Fed decision

The U.S. Fed didn’t change the key lending rate and markets reacted with a neutral session across the board. The S&P and Dow were essentially flat on Wednesday while the Nasdaq climbed 25 points. The TSX added 18 points. The U.S. 10-year yield remained around 4.391%.
Major movers on Wall Street were Caesars Entertainment, jumping 4.91% and Intel up 3.3%. The other big news of the day was the U.S. Senate passing the stablecoin bill. Coinbase soared 16.32% while credit card companies Mastercard sank 5.39% and Visa slid 4.88%. Bitcoin, though, gained US$76 to US$104,470. The stablecoin bill still needs to pass the House.
Seven sectors were positive on Bay Street, lead by healthcare and tech. Energy lagged the most. Major movers were Bausch Health up 8.46%, Iamgold -3.11%, Pembina Pipeline -2.45%, Keyera 5.7%, and Methanex 3.47%. Gold declined US$23 to US$3,364 while WTI added a few pennies to nearly US$75 a barrel.
