TSX and Wall Street extend recovery
Markets continued to edge upwards following the recent Trump tariff threat. The TSX rallied 1.14% or 277 points as almost every sector gained. Tech, healthcare and materials led Canadian equities as gold added another US$2,861 to continue its winning streak, though WTI gave back 2% to US$71.20.
Key names on Wednesday: Celestica up 8.78%, BlackBerry 9.68%, Finning 12.64%, SSR Mining 11.26% and Canadian Apartment REIT 5.17%.
The Dow rose 0.71%, bettering the S&P’s 0.39% and the Nasdaq’s 0.19%. Alphabet reported missed revenues and a dour forecast, which sent its A shares tumbling 7.29%. In contrast, Nvidia jumped 5.21%, SMCI 7.99%, Electronic Arts 7.6% while AMD sank 6.27%. Bitcoin edged up by 0.7% to US$97,200 while the U.S. 10-year yield slipped to 4.426%.
