TSX, yields flat as Wall Street climbs
Wednesday saw two different markets. The TSX was flat, adding barely four points in the session though most sectors were up, especially consumer staples. Holding back the Canadian index was energy after OPEC+ announced it was postponing Sunday’s meeting until Nov. 30 which sparked investor worries. WTI crude sank 1.25% to $76.76.
Key stocks were Weston rallying 6.68%, Aritzia up 3.27%, Osisko Gold 2.86%, Tamarack Valley -3.76% and Cenovus -2.52%.
In contrast, the S&P closed 0.41% higher, the Nasdaq 0.46%, and the Dow added 0.53%. The U.S. 10-year yield held around 4.4%. Notable names included Ebay up 3.09%, Tesla -2.9%, Nvidia -2.46%, AutoDesk -6.9%, and HP 2.83%. Elsewhere, Bitcoin jumped 5.35% to $37,600.
