Flat Tuesday
Toronto and New York markets were basically flat on Tuesday. The Toronto gained 0.21%, led by healthcare and consumer discretionary stocks, while staples and utilities lagged.
TD was heavily traded again and rallied 1.55% as Chorus Aviation climbed 2.3%. In contrast, Suncor closed -2.1% and Algonquin Power -5.19% after cancelling an American acquisition. Nuvei continued to garner headlines after a short-seller report attacked the tech stock, a mere day after actor Ryan Reynolds revealed he bought a stake. WTI crude was also flat, holding below $81.
The Wall Street indices barely moved. The Nasdaq and Dow gained a handful of points while the S&P inched up. Earnings marched on. Bank of America added 0.74% though Goldman Sachs was -1.7%. Nvidia jumped 2.31%, but Tesla closed -1.2%. After hours, Netflix reported mixed results and sank 10%. initially. The U.S. 10-year yield slipped to 3.579%. Only cryptos made a dramatic move as Bitcoin leapt 2.3% past $30,000.
