U.S. stock climb before long weekend
As the TSX was closed Friday for Canada Day, Wall Street ended the week modestly up on Friday. The S&P gained 1.06%, the Nasdaq 0.9% and the Dow 1.05% to offer some relief to the toughest half-year on Wall Street in decades.
There were broad gains as Amazon rose 3.15%, Apple 1.62%, Etsy 9%, Lennar 5.71%, Sherwin-Williams 5.06% and Warner Bros Discovery 6.18%. Laggards included Lam Research at -7.35%, Applied Materials -5.18% and AMD -3.66%. WTI oil climbed 2.5% to nearly $109. However, the U.S. 10-year yield actually slid below 3% to 2.894% while Bitcoin continued to slump, tumbling 2.6% below $19.500. The U.S. will celebrates its own national holiday on Monday.
