TSX slips during quiet Monday
Wall Street was closed for an American holiday, leaving the TSX to shed 0.16% to remain below 20,000. Volumes on Bay Street were merely 20% of the average. Consumer staples were a rare bright spot as most sectors saw modest declines.
Among the most active names were Hut 8 Mining, jumping 8.41%, Bitfarms spiking 7.74%, Restaurant Brands International declining 1.1%, Converge Technology Solutions adding 3.13%, Fortuna Silver Mines sinking 3.17% and Iamgold slipping 3.08%.
WTI crude shed $0.50 to trade around $71.30 while WCS rallied 2.25% to $60.50. U.S. futures were positive to start the day, but faded into the negative by the close. Wall Street reopens on Tuesday.
