TSX climbs during U.S. Thanksgiving
With American markets closed for Thanksgiving, Canadian stocks inched up after a sluggish Thursday morning. All the TSX components gained except materials, and the index closed up a respectable 0.35%.
There were few dramatic moves during the session, though notable gainers included AG Growth and High Liner Foods, both climbing around 4%. Dye & Durham added 3.65%, Cogeco 3.54% and Lightspeed 3.1% after selling off in recent weeks.
On the downside were weed names Charlotte’s Web Holdings at -3.7% and Fire & Flower at -2.99% while airliner Transat dove 1.77%. Crude oil ticked down as WTC shed 0.45% to $78 a barrel while WCS lost 0.75% to slip below $59. However, Bitcoin rose nearly 3% to almost $59,000 while gold was flat. Wall Street is open only partially on Friday, though some predict robust Black Friday sales online an in malls.
