Markets slump
Stocks in New York and Toronto sold off Thursday, a day after rallying. The TSX shed nearly 1% as only consumer discretionary gained. Materials and energy led the laggards.
Most-influential were CNQ at -2.26%, Cenovus -1.01% and Telus -2.51%. Other key names were Empire up 5.23% and Equinox Gold -9.26%. Meanwhile, WTI crude declined 0.3% to US$70.10 a barrel while gold fell US$36 to US$2,662.
On Wall Street, the S&P closed -0.54%, the Nasdaq -0.66% and the Dow -0.53%. Once more, Nvidia was the most active name, but sank 1.41%. Adobe reported and missed, and its shares tanked 13.69%. Elsewhere, Western Digital closed the day -5.59%, Nucor -5.08% and Warner Bros. Discovery soared 15.43%. The U.S. 10-year yield edged up to 4.336% while Bitcoin dipped 1.6% to fall below US$100,000.
