Markets mixed after strong jobs data
Friday saw stronger than expected jobs data on both sides of the border. However stocks didn’t slide but finished mixed. The S&P closed -0.08% but added 2% for the week; the Nasdaq 0.12% for the day and 5.5% over the week; and the Dow -0.15% but up almost 1%.
Gainers included Tesla by 2.54% and Enphase 4.65% while losers were Twitter at -5.1% and Carnival -3.43%. The U.S. 10-year was 3.088% and Bitcoin traded around $21,700.
WTI climbed 2% to $104.70 though the TSX shed 0.21% Friday as it gained 0.86% for the week. Winners: Dollarama 2.61% and Aritzia 4.17%. Losers: Suncor -2.03%, Crescent Point Energy -2.97% and Rogers -1.17% as its internet network failed nationwide that paralyzed countless businesses and even 911 calls.
