Markets fade slightly
Tuesday markets saw mild losses following days of dramatic moves. The TSX closed -0.18%, highlighted by weakness in energy as WTI declined 1.35% to US$77.35 a barrel. Royal Bank was the most active name at -0.85%. Other key movers: Baytex -2.54%, Canada goose -3.5%, Goeasy 4.52% and Badger up 4.02%. Gold added US$11 to US$2,407 an ounce. Bay Street is awaiting the Bank of Canada’s interest rate decision tomorrow, widely expecting a cut.
Wall Street also saw muted action as the Nasdaq was flat, down four points, the S&P -0.11% and the Dow -0.1%. Major movers: Amazon up 2.17%, AT&T -1.73%, MSCI jumped 7.72%, Sherwin-Williams 6.55% and UPS -12.45% after reporting a miss. The U.S. 10-year yield declined to 4.239% while Bitcoin sank 3% to US$65,500.
