Markets fade into close
After a strong open, Toronto and New York indices failed to maintain those gains and instead declined into the close on Monday. The S&P closed -0.39%, the Nasdaq -0.73%, the Dow gained 0.11% while the TSX was essentially flat, shedding 25 points. The lack of a resolution in the US-Israel-Iran war pushed WTI crude more than 5% higer to US$104.75. In contrast, gains in precious minerals were muted: gold rose 0.26% to US$4,505 and silver 0.31% to US$69.85.
Key movers on Bay Street: Baytex 1.33%, Aya Gold & Silver 5.21%, GFL Environmental 4.14%, Americas Silver -15.09% and Celestica -7.79%. On Wall Street: ServiceNow 5.59%, Palo Alto 4.99%, Intel -4.5%, Micron -9.92% and Sysco -15.28% after buying out a competitor. Meanwhile, Bitcoin held at US$65,595, and the U.S. 10-year yield remained around 4.35%.
