Markets extend advances
No dramatic moves, but markets in Toronto and New York continued to rise Wednesday. The TSX added 0.33% as several mining names rallied, including Equinox Gold by 4.92% and Calibre Mining by 7.66%. Also, Northwest Healthcare REIT rose 6.49% while Canada Goose closed -3.21% and CNQ -0.31% as the most-active name. Gold was basically flat around US$5,210 while WTI crude sank 1.25% to US$72.
In New York, the S&P advanced 0.42%, the Nasdaq 0.57% and the Dow by 0.16%. Apparel had a good session after Target reported and jumped 10.25%, and TJX rallied 7.07%. Albemarle closed the session 5.15% higher, but Walgreens finished -3.31% and American Express -2.69% after a downgrade. The U.S. 10-year continued to slip, down to 3.8% while Bitcoin jumped 4.3% to US$61,550.
