U.S. stocks climb, TSX fades pre-Fed

As the U.S. Fed began its two-day meeting on Tuesday, American stocks rose higher, with the S&P advancing 0.43% to a 52-week high of 4,643. The Nasdaq added 0.651%, the Dow 0.47%, and the U.S. 10-year yield hovered around 4.2%.

Tech continued to lead as AMD rallied 2.36% and Broadcom 4.11%, but Oracle plunged 12.19% on a revenue miss. Meanwhile, American Airlines rose 2.22% while Bitcoin held at $41,250.

In contrast, the TSX shed 0.43%, not helped by a 3.8% fall in WTI crude oil to below $69. Unsurprisingly, energy lagged (along with materials and utilities) and led the losers of the day, including Suncor at -2.05%, Cenovus -2.42% and Tamarack Valley -4.45%. However, Manulife added 1.61% in heavy trading and Stelco soared 7.76%. Tomorrow, the U.S. Fed will announce its interest rate decision.
