U.S. stocks mixed to start August
With the TSX closed for the holidays, the American indices saw a choppy session to usher in August on Monday. The indices closed down by 0.14% to 0.28% with oil weighing down the most. Financials were also weak, though consumer names rallied. WTI crude sank nearly 5% below $94.
Boeing was among the leaders, up 6%, as well as Procter & Gamble adding 2.87% and Kimberly-Clark rising 2.65%.
Losers included oil names such as Pioneer Natural Resources sliding 3.73%, Take-Two Interactive shedding 3.% and Royal Caribbean cruises sinking 7.54%. Meanwhile, the 10-year yield continued to lose ground, falling to 2.59% while Bitcoin slid 3.85% to $23,000.
