TSX hits record high
On Wednesday, the TSX rose 0.6% to reach a new close of 24,224. Apart from mild weakness in telcos, every sector rally, most pronounced in tech and consumer discretionary. Major movers on Bay Street included CNQ up 1.01% as the most-active name, Suncor 1.16%, Bird Construction soaring 11.18%, Interfor 5.07% and Celestica 4.72%. WTI gave back 0.4% to US$73.30 while gold declined US$14 to US$2,607.
On Wall Street, the S&P also scaled fresh heights by gaining 0.71% to 5,792 as the Nasdaq advanced 0.6% and the Dow 1.03%. The cruise lines sailed far during the session, with Norwegian up 10.91%, Carnival 7.05% and Royal Caribbean 5.26%. Elsewhere, Super Micro Computer rallied 4.28% and Corning 4.8%. The U.S. 10-year yield hardly moved and held around 4.078%. Bitcoin sank 2.4% to US$60,850.
